Smart Palembang – Persatuan Wartawan Indonesia (PWI) Provinsi Sumatera Selatan jalin sinergi bersama Pemerintah Provinsi Sumatera Selatan dalam menghadapi revolusi industri media yang semakin berat.
Hal ini disampaikan Ketua Umum PWI Sumsel periode 2019-2024 Firdaus Komar, dalam sambutannya pada acara pelantikan pengurus PWI, DKP dan IKWI Sumatera Selatan masa bhakti 2019-2024, Griya Agung, Selasa (05/03).
Menurutnya, sejauh ini dalam perjalanan PWI Sumsel, peran dari Pemprov Sumsel dalam memajukan kualitas SDM Wartawan sudah tidak diragukan lagi.
“Selama ini memang peran Pemprov Sumsel dalam rekrutmen SDM sudah teruji dan tidak diragukan lagi,” katanya.
Selain itu, pria yang akrab disapa Firkom ini menceritakan, bahwa pada tahun 2010 lalu Sumsel sukses menjadi tuan rumah dalam pelaksanaan HTM. Menurutnya hal ini merupakan wujud nyata dukungan Pemprov dalam memajukan pers di Sumsel.
“Kesuksesan Sumsel sebagai tuan rumah HTM pada tahun 2010 tentunya tidak lepas dari peran Pemprov Sumsel pada saat itu,” ujarnya.
Lebih lanjut ia menjelaskan, pada saat itu juga dilakukan proses penandatangan gratifikasi oleh pimpinan pers di tanah air.
“Saat momen HTM 2010 di Sumsel, juga terjadi penandatangan gratifikasi dengan konsep yang diberi judul piagam Palembang, menjadi momentum dan catatan sejarah hingga saat ini. Piagam Palembang sudah memuat regulasi mengenai pengelolaan pers agar perusahaan pers taat pada kode etik jurnalistik, standard perlindungan wartawan, standard perusahaan pers serta kompetensi wartawan,” jelasnya.
Pada momen itu juga, lanjut Firkom, Sumsel untuk pertama kalinya di Indonesia sukses meresmikan Sekolah Jurnalisme Indonesia (SJI).
“Saat itu juga sekaligus didirikannya SJI yang diresmikan langsung oleh Presiden RI Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono dan itu sejarahnya Palembang yang mencatat pada waktu itu. Selain itu, SJI Sumsel merupakan pelopor pertama yang menjadi cikal bakal berdirinya lembaga pendidikan dan pelatihan diseluruh Indonesia,” lanjutnya.
Dengan hal itu, ia berharap kedepannya PWI Sumsel dapat meningkatkan sinergi bersama Pemprov Sumsel dalam membangun pers Sumsel menjadi lebih maju.
“Saya yakin harapan kedepan PWI Sumsel dengan disupport penuh Gubernur Sumsel saat ini akan mampu menaklukan tantangan dan ancaman yang makin berat terkait dengan industri media saat ini. Mari sama-sama membangun pers sumsel yang muaranya adalah membangun sumsel dan untuk kemajuan Sumsel,” tutupnya.
